Costa Rica Vacations Best Beaches

Costa Rica has some of the most lovely rain forests and wildlife in the world, but this lucky country also has some beautiful pieces of coastline. Whether you're surfing, tanning, or snorkeling, there are many ideal options. While Costa Rica has its fair share of wild party beaches, there are more remote beaches where you can relax and keep the hermit crabs company. It is hard to pick from the abundance of gorgeous beaches but on your Costa Rica vacation make sure to check out a few of these sandy gems.Puntarenas: Meaning sandy point in Spanish, this cute seaport lies on the Pacific coast. This beach is close to several reserves and national parks, like Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The beach area has some of the most delicious fresh seafood in Costa Rica, as well as colorful boardwalk with vendors selling handicrafts.Mal Pais & Santa Teresa: These two beach towns are a bit difficult to reach, but it's worth driving down the bumpy roads and clouds of dust on the tip of the Nicoya peninsula. The town's remoteness has kept the beach pristine and wilderness thriving.Montezuma: Not revenge, beach bliss. This classic backpacker spot is located at the southern end of the Nicoya peninsula. While many beach bums make their way to Montezuma each day, you can claim your fair share of beach as there are endless miles of empty wilderness beach.Playa Negra: As the name implies, this beach is covered in dark black sand that sparkles in the sun. The downside is the sand can get a bit hot around midday, even more of a reason to take a dip in the Caribbean's turquoise waters. Get lunch in nearby reggae-fueled town of Cahuita.Playa Rosada: At the very south of Play Guiones is Playa Rosada which has a rare stretch of pink sand. Most of the time it is relatively empty and you can enjoy the tide pools or go snorkeling in peace.Playa Tamarindo: Home to the hottest ocean-side nightlife, this area is becoming increasingly affluent. It lacks the authentic Costa Rican feel, but it is definitely a blast.Playa Conchal: A true paradise, this tiny beach is covered in a fine layer of crushed seashells, making it one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Look around for an intact shell to take home as a souvenir as you wade through crystal clear waters.Manzanillo: At the end of the road on the Caribbean coast, this cute beach town is postcard-ready. The white powder sands will feel smooth and warm under your feet as you head towards the turquoise waters.
